子供を育てるってどの国でも大変。
I agree with the article. Australia is quite a conservative country in general.
Male workers can take maternity leaves I suppose, but not many of them do that. Women usually leave their workplace when they give birth to their child.
They will come back when the babies grow up, probably when they can go to school.
Some parents use nursery schools when their kids turn 3 or 4 years old, but it is quite expensive, that is what I heard.
Growing kids is not an easy task not only in Japan, but in Australia.
